There are a lot of examples for good music videos produced in over the last years using Animation as their technique.
Here are just two examples, which I thing show really good, how music videos can support the message of a song/band. Both of them convey a different ambient by focusing on different color, animation style and storyline und thereby visually supporting the impact of the song.
The Rolling Stone ranked the Video „The story of O.J.“ as one of the best in 2017. It plays visually with african-american stereotypes using a cartoon style which visually supports the message of the song and stressing the criticism expressed
in the lyrics.
The Video of Tame Impala – Feels Like We Only Go Backwards is a big contrast to the grey/depressing feel of „The Story of O.J.“ – it really empathises the dreamlike/psychedelic sound of the band and plays with loop animation, seamlessly blending into each other, in an delicate and handmade look.
